There is a lot to be said for falling in love with God....over and over again. Like a real love affair - a long term one that is - our faith and God can surprise us at the most unexpected of times.
I was reading a book yesterday, feeling tired and grumpy. The section I was reading was about inner silence - out of nowhere silence seemed to descend and such a presence of God as has been missing from me for a while. I remembered. I remembered this feeling of peace and love. Not an easy answer, not a quick solution - never has been - but I felt again the touch of God so graciously given over the years.
Our memory of love is kindled by our experience of love - peace by peace and relationship by relationship. Every so often it seems, in unexpected ways, God surprises us with love - much as we surprise each other with love. It is OK to fall in love with God, to drift for a while in the love of God's presence. "Delight" is a word the Bible uses, God delights in us and we may also delight in Him.
