John the Baptist thought he knew what his job was- he thought that Jesus was going to be too big for him to even tie his shoe laces - but Jesus wasn't. A timely reminder that Jesus comes in unexpected ways - not according to what we think our job is and asks us to join him in the way things are with God - and the amazing breaking in as he takes our humanity.
John's whole world view was challenged by Jesus action - ours should be too.
