Christmas cancelled?

I was driving home yesterday in my typical Radio 4 fog when the newsreader announced that Christmas had been cancelled for thousands of people.She was talking about those poor folk whose holiday plans have been ruined by the effect the weather has had on the transportation system, especially the airports. I am sure that those who have been waiting for flights for days are not feeling particularly full of Christmas spirit and it was an attention grabbing headline...but....the underlying truth is just not there. Christmas is not cancelled, not at all.
