Our book study group today was talking about the Cross and Power. It is a chapter in Graham Tomlin's book, "Looking Through the Cross," which, by the way, some folk are loving and others really not so much.
"What is power?" I asked the group. A selection of answers.
"So if I hold a gun to your head do I have power?" I finally wiggled around to.
"Yes," they all said.
"Unless......?" I asked
Then the penny dropped - unless you are not afraid to die - then who has the power.
It is not the only angle but did Pilate (who we were talking about) or the Sanhedrin or Jesus have the power, even when Jesus was hanging on the cross- and what does that tell us about out own power and powerlessness and where is God in that?
