When is the call to carry on and when is it to stop? I read the press release from Bishop Lee the other day and was impressed with the simplicity of his call and his willingness to let go of some of the things which he had, perhaps, assumed previously, in favor of an evolving situation and in response to the needs of the people he has served so faithfully for all these years.
I was always taught to finish things but as I get older I realize that my tightly controlled version of "finishing" might not be the same as God's. This is a hard path to tread, it is a difficult place to find, The trouble is when we are taught that letting go is an easy way out we sometimes beat ourselves up for stopping when, in fact, carrying on in some situations is much worse than anything else.
Discerning the voice of God can be very hard with all the other voices which surround us. Then the choice will be ours - who do we listen to.
