Who we are....

There is nothing like getting the boot for making you come to terms with who you are. Of course, you have to deal with all the ghosts of who you think you might be first but then when you come down to it - who are any of us.

The recent escapade in my own life taught me that me self-definition extends beyond my current role and position - this was actually a huge relief to me - I was worried I had become somewhat automated and cranked up every morning and that the person behind the facade was very little indeed. But wonderfully, God has shown me that the knitting together which God has done is much more solid than that.

I think it can be difficult to thank God for the glue which holds things together when we are in the middle of business because in that chaos we may find ourselves questioning just how well glued together we really are. When we are running at full tilt it can be easy to imagine that we are that business and, perhaps, if we cannot stop we need to take that worry seriously.

That old saying of "stop and smell the roses" - perhaps I should say stop and notice the glue - NOT smell it (hehehe) - the God glue which holds us together, which anchors us in our lives and in the promise of eternity. The God glue which sticks on the sparkle of forever and binds the broken heart.

I was pleased to find that when the nine to five stopped, after my little wailing had stopped, the deep waters were still calm and still ready for service. A good place to be, may similar blessings be yours.
