Just another

Was this morning just another morning? I was out before sunrise, when it was dark. The air was cold but slightly heavy, none of that nice crispness it sometimes has before dawn. I wanted the sun to rise but it was too early so as the first color appeared in the sky I imagined how it might look later, when skuds of color filled in the large expanses between the tiny, thin little clouds.

Sunrises are an easy way to stop days being "just another" - taking the time to watch wonder rather than expecting the ordinary can bring us our of ourselves and into relationship - both with God and with other people. Mention that you saw something beautiful and you will find someone who is interested in something that is not bad news!

Jesus brings life - life - not existence - and not something we have to wait for. Life now - in blades of grass and bobbing daffodils, in children playing and colors streaking across the sky. We are alive, we are insured by the cross against the perils of death - but are we living?
