Home

Went to Church. Nothing unusual there - after all it is Sunday - but it struck me that I observe a lot of people avoid Church around times of pain and sorrow - I couldn't think of a more obvious place to be - and thankfully, today, the resurrection was still Good News! Alleluia!

Home is a strange concept to me. The house I grew up in was sold many years ago and the town where my parents live is familiar but not really home. So far as it goes I really would not claim to have a geographical home - but home is about people - about my family and about God and being in the presence of Christ.

As we think about the resurrection we think about people finding their way home - not to a place but to the side of the risen Lord. Mary found a home in the garden, not because she was planning to pitch a tent amongst the shrubs but because the beloved one called her name there - her name on Jesus lips was home. Thomas too, the love on Jesus lips for Thomas brought him rest.

So there, our names on the lips of those who love us - that is home. More especially our name on the lips of Jesus - that is our first and last home and it makes so much sense to return to that place - to allow ourselves to be loved and held in that pain by Him - maranatha - come Lord Jesus.

Alleluia! Christ is Risen!
He is risen indeed! Alleluia!
