Waves

We were watching the ocean break over the rocks this evening and thinking that it is interesting how the only way to really appreciate them is to see them in motion - I would add to that thought - to be there and see them in motion.

It is impossible to appreciate the power and force of the ocean from a still picture and even a video would not give you the feeling of being there and seeing the water smash against the rocks, the salt on your skin, the sprays of water up to the beach.

So movement and being part of the thing. Hmmm.....sounds unlike a church near me. We are pretty good at inviting people in but we tend to like to sit rather still - perhaps remembering ourselves as we were or carefully placing ourselves as we would like to be. Neither is true to our calling as Church.

Who we are is who we are - we are not people of snap shots and caught moments. The Church only works in full powers when it is alive and unleashed - when her people are being truly themselves. Challenging, yes, possibly unhinging, yes, but the Gospel unleashed - sounds like a Church I want near me.
