Herbs

I went out in the wet garden this morning and looked around - those of you who are gardeners will know all about this - looking at what has grown - propping up anything which is droopy - I even harvested a few spearmint leaves and made some herbal tea.

Sunday can be a bit like an early morning wander around the garden - we check out our community as we gather to worship. We rejoice in our successes and support each other in our griefs. Then we gather up all that we are and come before God as a community.

It is important for support and living to be a part of worship and for worship to be seen as vital to community - we want neither country club Christianity where the social aspect is seen to be rudely interrupted by mention of faith, nor empty words in Church which are not accompanied by a vital body who actually know and care about each other and the world around them.

This balance, just like the balance in the garden, can be hard to find and even overworked. But spending time looking at our environment and what we are growing will help us to balance our lives and bloom in the praise of God.
