Making Church better

Let's make Church better. Let's decide on one thing that we (meaning I myself) am going to do to make it better. It could be a little thing like speaking to someone we don't know or a big thing like volunteering to teach or lead something. But more than the doing things lets decide not to hurt each other - I am writing after unclogging the waste disposal which might be a mistake because it took a while and gave me time to consider unpleasantries.

The one I was thinking about was the fact that churches are often really mean to people and not just clergy - we have learned to expect that. But why? Was Jesus mean? I didn't get that in the Gospels. Jesus got angry and confrontational - yes - but not mean - he did not diminish people and break them down.

So let's make that better and that means when we see it we have to stop it even if it is going to be painful in the process. The whole concept of Unbuntu is antithetically opposed to meanness - our Church is saying something about openness and community but we need to actually do that and put love into those corners where the gunk sits refusing to let God wash through.
