My uncles are twins - they are now well into their seventies and I can tell the difference but when I was a child I was fearful of family reunions because one of them would bound up to me and ask "Which one am I?" - I never knew - when I got a bit wiser I would stake out the joint from my arrival and have my mother tell me which was which - I would then keep tabs on them until the moment of the fearful question - my odds improved with this strategy. (Recently they admitted they had done this on purpose as a sort of joke.....haha I said, the wisdom of age!!)
All Saints Day is a bit like a family reunion as we celebrate all those who have gone before us on the pathway of faith. The family of saints is very large and contains a huge cast of characters - some of whom we might not enjoy meeting at the punchbowl very much. But the point is that, despite our personal quirks (and bad jokes) we are all invited to the same party.
